Manhar Udhas
Manhar Udhas is a distinguished Indian playback and ghazal singer known for his prolific contributions to both Hindi and Gujarati cinema. A graduate in mechanical engineering, he began his career in the late 1960s with a significant milestone in the 1969 film Vishwas, where his dubbing of a song was so perfect that the legendary singer Mukesh insisted it remain in Udhas's voice. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he has sung for over 300 films across various languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali, and has released 31 solo albums, such as Aashirwad and Alankar. He has collaborated with iconic music directors like Kalyanji-Anandji,Laxmikant-Pyarelal, and R.D. Burman, and provided playback for major actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and Dilip Kumar in landmark films like Hero, Qurbani, Ram Lakhan, and Karma. His international presence is marked by performances in countries such as Australia, the USA, and Canada, often appearing alongside his brothers Pankaj and Nirmal Udhas. Currently, he remains active as a professional singer and live performer, frequently contributing to special musical events and serving as a judge for talent shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
